Volgarr the Viking is an action platformer by Crazy Viking Studios that was released for free for the Dreamcast in 2015. It is inspired by classic arcade games such as Capcom's Ghosts 'n Goblins.
History[]
It is a commercial game that was released for Windows, Mac and Linux in 2013, Xbox One in 2014, and PlayStation 4 and Vita in 2016. Dreamcast was one of the targets, however, the person who ported it, Marc Hall, released the Dreamcast version as freeware in 2015, with full permission of the creators, Crazy Viking Studios.
Commercial Release[]
The license allows for commercial release if it is sold only at a small price to pay for the production and distribution.
Because of this, it was commercially released for Dreamcast on December 28, 2015 on a professionally pressed CD with a European style Dreamcast cover on the Circuit-Board German-language forum as a Circuit-Board Community-Aktion limited, numbered, release of 100.
It was later commercially released by JoshProd on June 9, 2019.
